Curiosity marks the beginning of every creative journey, so I invite you to explore the brilliant and varied programme on offer. There really is something for everyone to enjoy for the whole month.
The start of Brighton Fringe is always special, but with all the challenges that we’ve faced to get to this point, this year feels especially so. Behind the statistics of 733 events, nearly 4,000 performances across 121 venues and meeting points, is the work of thousands of people who make Brighton Fringe what it is. So, I would like to thank everyone involved.
We are delighted to see the return of venues such as Brighton Spiegeltent, Laughing Horse, Rialto, Caxton Arms and the Brunswick (it is difficult to write a list like that as there are many, many more). I am also curious to discover the many, newer venues across the city, particularly the Rotunda on Regency Square, Sweet at the Poets, Junkyard Dogs at the Round Georges and the Ironworks Studios (again, the list goes on).
We have some brilliant award and bursary winners, as well as the Dutch Season, with acclaimed work from the Netherlands. There are tours, workshops, events in people’s homes, gardens and basements, as well as an extensive online programme, so look out for the unusual, go out of your comfort zone and I promise you are in for a treat.
It’s the creative outlet we’ve been needing for ages and I can’t wait!
