His work continues to resonate with audiences worldwide, making him a respected figure in the photography world and a catalyst for positive change.
This is the third exhibition in the “We’re Here... ” series, bringing together classic and contemporary socially conscious still and moving imagery. Brighton-based artist collective ProjectOurs have curated a response to this work and will present visual content from a local perspective alongside the exhibition. The Vanley Burke retrospective depicts very different communities, living in a very different city, in a very different era and in very different circumstances. Different, disparate people, yet somehow connected with their Brighton contemporaries who face similar life challenges of identity formation and social exclusion in spaces and places that on the surface appear to be welcoming and fly the flag of acceptance. This special collaboration will be on show from 20th May and features contributions from the ProjectOurs participatory project, ‘An Exploration of the Brighton Identity’ - showcasing the work of artists: Ann Graack, Chantelle Melody,
