SCREENINGS, PERFORMANCES & CONVERSATIONS - SHOWCASING THE WORK OF INTERNATIONAL PACE ARTISTS
Presentations include a performance by Rebecca Drammeh who remains the only trained black Global Majority deaf actress in Sweden. Rebecca will share an excerpt of her powerful production of ‘Jainaba Wouldn’t Stop Dreaming’ voiced by Yamou Sosseh Boström, followed by a discussion on themes of identity, language culture and inclusive structures.
Theatre director Nada Sabet will also be reflecting on her international work using theatre as a tool in community creation and exploring the power of humour with her presentation 'Laughing for Change: Harnessing Comedy to Address Gender-Based Violence and FGM'.
Music performers include Scottish-Nigerian jazz-folk-soul singer-songwriter and guitarist Bumi Thomas.
Also on the line-up are Joshua Alabi and Angela Peters of Kininso Koncepts - a creative organization from Nigeria established to entertain, inform, educate, challenge and transform the intellectual, social, and cultural perspectives of communities using theatre, film, documentary and creative strategy.
