Brighton Fringe welcomes national and international acts. Every year for the last three years, Brighton Fringe has been granted permit free status, making it easier to come over with an entertainer visa if you are from a NON-EEA country. If you are a performer from outside the UK please be sure to read the Guide for Overseas Participants before you register your event.
PERMIT FREE STATUS
Brighton Fringe has been granted PERMIT FREE STATUS from the Home Office. From 1 May 2012 Brighton Fringe has been included on the UK Border Agency’s annual list of permit free festivals and cultural events.
FEU: FOREIGN ENTERTAINERS TAX
All companies who have one or more members coming from outside the UK to participate are legally obliged to complete an FEU tax form. If this applies to you, you will need to do the following:
Step 1) Download FEU8 from Brighton Fringe website or directly from the HMRC website here: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/feu8.pdf
Step 2) Fill out the form and send to the HMRC FEU tax department
Step 4) If you are exempt from tax you will be sent an FEU4 form, a copy will also be sent to Brighton Fringe.
See the HMRC website for more information on FEU tax. www.hmrc.gov.uk/feu/feu.htm
WHEN SHOULD I CONTACT THE FEU?
We recommend that you send the FEU8 form as soon as your event is registered. If you fail to do so we are legally required to deduct 20% from your event ticket sales to cover any tax costs. If your application to the HMRC arrives late and it turns out you are not liable to pay FEU tax you will need to contact the HMRC directly to claim the funds back.
HOW DO I CONTACT THE FEU?
If you have any questions regarding your application or whether you should be completing an FEU form, then you can telephone the Foreign Entertainers Unit on: (0044) (0) 151 472 6488. Please also read our FEU Guide 2018.
