Award Winning Shows at Brighton Fringe 2021
We’ve Picked Out Some Prior Award Winners Who Are Back for This Year's Festival
Brighton Fringe isn’t the only festival you should be attending this year. Throughout the summer, Brighton is ablaze with various arts and music festivals, all celebrating the wonderful talent that lives in the city. Here are just a few that we love.
Ever wanted to see an artist in their natural habitat? Well, now you can. Running every weekend from 4-26 May, Artists Open Houses allows a look into a Brighton, Rottingdean, Newhaven or Ditchling based artist’s home, to take a gander at their creations, have a chat with them or even buy some of their original works. Spread out across 200 venues, the event showcases a variety of works from over 1000 local artists. From Sculptures, and ceramics to photography, and paintings, or even Jewellery and textiles, everybody’s tastes are catered to. And with free tea and cakes on offer too, this is surely a festival you won’t want to miss.
Flabbergasting audiences since 1967, Brighton’s very own festival covers everything from Dance, music, theatre, art, film, literature, circus, outdoor and family events, to debate. Running from 4-26 May, this year’s rendition of the festival will feature world and UK premiers from both local, international and national artists, alongside guest director singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rokia Traore.
Globally renowned as the leading showcase festival for new talent in UK and Europe audiences, The Great Escape Festival lends its stages to over 450 emerging artists each year. Performing across 30 venues and outdoor spaces throughout May, the festival has previously launched the careers of such artists as Stormzy, Pale Waves, IDLES, Black Honey, and Tom Walker. Running from 9-11 May, this year’s festival promises to entertain by introducing up-and-coming acts like Lewis Capaldi, AJ Tracey, Connie Constance, Skynd, and Indoor pets to the gargantuan line-up.
