Jacob Lovick: The Famous Ashtray - Brighton Fringe
Jacob Lovick: The Famous Ashtray
In 1965, The Beach Boys, halfway through their legendary nonsense hit about sheep 'Barbara Ann', broke off to rattle what they christened the 'Famous Ashtray'. The ashtray in question was the most open secret in the 1960s music industry, and yet this was its first, and only, appearance in an actual recorded song. But its role in the development, unstoppable heights and despicable lows of 20th century pop cannot be understated.

'The Famous Ashtray' is a psychedelic, character-comedy explosion right in the middle of the dark heart of the 1960s and everything terrible that's happened ever since.

Jacob Lovick is a clown, writer and comedian. This is his first 100% factual show.
