Between Strands - Brighton Fringe
Between Strands
Between Strands is a performance about hair, memory, and the bonds that endure beyond loss. Drawing on East Asian cultural symbolism, it follows the tender relationship between a granddaughter and her grandmother, weaving in Taiwanese traditions, stories, and the rituals that shape their farewells. In many Asian cultures, hair carries lineage, identity, and the thread that connects generations.

This physical performance explores how a single strand of hair can hold memory, intimacy, and hope. Using shadow work, gesture, and breath-led movement, the performers trace the shifting space between holding on and letting go, revealing the invisible threads that keep us connected.

Blending contemporary performance with cultural heritage, Between Strands opens a quiet yet powerful space to reflect on belonging, transformation, and the ties we continue to carry.
