I’m fine... I think. A smile appears. A body follows—or tries to.

Almost Fine is a solo contemporary dance created and performed by renowned Taiwanese dancer A-Yao (Peishao Huang).

Small actions—walking, sitting, scrolling, breathing—begin to slip. Almost Fine is a physical exploration of those slips: the cracks in how we try to “be normal.” Playful, precise, and a little messy, the work moves through instinct, fragments of chaos, and childlike impulse. It becomes a game, a glitch, a quiet ritual of being.

The piece explores identity—gender, culture, and nation—and how these forces shape the way we show up in the world and inhabit our own skin. It asks how our bodies are trained, coached, and gently pushed into roles we never consciously chose.

It is not about breaking.
It is not about control.
It is about living in the space of "almost"—
the fragile, honest, alive moment before we find our footing again.
