Harry Hay, a pioneer of what has become the modern queer/sexual minorities movement, was born in Worthing, Sussex in 1912 but spent most of his life in the USA. In 1950, he founded a homophile group called the Mattachine Society. He was a co-founder, in 1979, of the Radical Faeries, a movement affirming gayness as a spiritual calling.
Joey Cain, a San Francisco-based community activist and independent historian, was a close associate of Harry Hay and in 2012 organized a New York conference celebrating his life. Joey will introduce the film 'Hope Along the Wind: The Life of Harry Hay.' Website
