In central Brighton, a stone’s throw from the beach and on historic Ship Street in Brighton’s famous Lanes, you’ll find the Walrus with its labyrinth of eclectically-decorated rooms and endless winding passageways. You’ll also discover a wonderful hidden two-story roof garden, restaurant and spacious bar. There are also a two performance spaces for Fringe shows. The large "Basement Room" located downstairs, and the more intimate "Raised Room", located to the rear of the ground floor bar - both hosting Fringe shows all day and night at weekends, and in the evenings during the week. The Basement Room has theatre and booth seating, a large raised stage and full PA system. It's low ceilings make it an atmospheric space to perform comedy and cabaret, and it transforms into a club after shows on Friday and Saturday Night. This venue is one of the Laughing Horse venues across Brighton, in 2022 there are Laughing Horse shows in two rooms at The Walrus; The Quadrant; The Caroline of Brunswick and The Temple.
