Capture the World in Clay

The World We Live In (Die Welt in der Wir Leben)

WORKSHOP

In early 1980 the Swiss artists Fischli & Weiss started thinking about categories for possible sculptures: history, culture, sports, entertainment, science, personal memories, and many more. They ended up with a long list of possibilities, some became sculptures, some didn't. Their clay figures became the inspiration and starting point for our performance ‘The World We Live In’. In this workshop we discuss and question the world we live in, the categories of Fischli & Weiss, and then we translate this into clay figures. LET’S CLAY!

Documents, Documentation, and the Post-Truth Era

My Home at the Intersection

WORKSHOP

A workshop which re-investigates the status and function of "documentation" responding to the urgent post-truth era in documentary theatre formats. What is the function of the theatrical space in the times we live in now? How do we approach and understand "production of truth"? This workshop uses storytelling, autobiographical material and documents to re-investigate the fine lines between fact and fiction, truth and lie, personal and political.

I’d Had Enough So I Killed Him

I’d Had Enough So I Killed Him by Sherise Strang [NL]

A dance/physical theatre solo, inspired by the life of poet and writer Maya Angelou, a woman who fought her whole life for black women, as an activist and feminist. A search for being, seeing and wanting to be seen. A search for identity, security and strength. A search for confession, for conviction, for judgement. Washing all the dirt off to get to the core, to make it visible.

Körper (Body)

Körper (Body) by NEON [NL]
Körper questions the unconscious way most of us live our lives. We all have our own different rituals which serve to reaffirm our idea of self and nurse our ego, but we rarely stop to consider what we actually base our choices on. Are we really in control of who we grow up to be? What made us who we are, and what happens if we don’t conform to the expectations of society?

Körper: Discover Your Body’s Identity

Körper (Body) by NEON [NL]

WORKSHOP

Join us for a dance and physical workshop like no other. To discover yourself. Is there only one truth, only one way of being male and one way of being female? One way to dress, to impress and one way to be successful? Is money the one thing that measures it all? Is there only one system to follow, one direction to go, one winner? Only one goal? Only one view, one opinion, one identity? Only one body?

My Home at the Intersection

My Home at the Intersection
An intimate and charming performance taking us back to the conflict in the Indian province of Punjab. A little boy dresses up as a local superhero. A family loses their home. Personal memories of three generations collide with the many official versions of a fragment of history. The past comes to life through video, stories and the flavours he has brought with him from the kitchen of his grandfather.

The World We Live In (Die Welt in der Wir Leben)

The World We Live In (Die Welt in der Wir Leben)
Award-winning performance from Amsterdam Fringe 2018. Join us in a realm between fact and fiction, real and fake... In an empty space, two performers continually attempt to portray our world as they move between historical events and everyday life. Reconstructing the funny, dramatic and fantastic worldview of Swiss artists Fischli and Weiss, they create a live encyclopaedia of personal, universal and future choreographies. In an exhausting struggle with the digital screen that tends to take over, they decide to fight the machine of information in order to get rid of meaning and all context.
