Summary of the Role    

The Operations Manager is a member of the senior management team at Brighton Fringe, reporting to the CEO. The post holder is responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s day to day operations covering all HR, Learning & Development, finance, office management, and corporate administration. 

A day in the life of the Operations Manager might involve some online banking, answering general enquiry emails, sending out sales invoices, writing up an up to date risk assessment, researching costs and booking in training courses for colleagues, updating holiday and sickness records, booking meeting rooms and inviting attendees, conducting interviews for new staff members, arranging the Christmas party, and offering a friendly ear over a cup of coffee with a team member. 

The Operations Manager works closely with all the departments, especially the Finance Manager, and is integral as the communication platform between the team members and the CEO/Board of Trustees. This person needs to have exceptional attention to detail, and have a resilient and calming nature. 

The role will be incredibly varied, and can get intensely busy in our peak times but it is ultimately very rewarding to be part of the team creating England’s largest Arts festival. 

 

Skills and knowledge required to fulfil key responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft365 and Office Suite
  • Excellent organisational, communication, administrative and ICT skills
  • Some understanding of budgets, spreadsheets, and accountancy systems (specifically Sage)
  • Ability to actively listen, teach, and offer emotional (and confidential) support
  • Some knowledge and understanding of live events management
  • Resilient and focussed
  • Persuasiveness and determination
  • Strong organisational abilities, shows initiative – a self-starter
  • Has a personal commitment to organisational excellence; displaying honesty, integrity and a strong sense of ethics in all decisions and actions
  • Be available for the full duration of Brighton Fringe throughout May/June each year, being prepared for some late nights or weekend work over this time.

Marketing Coordinator

Summary of the Role
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, alongside the Marketing Assistant, this role supports the delivery of all marketing aspects, including digital marketing, design for print and digital, mobile app administration, social media, email marketing, PR and commercial development. 

A day in the life of the Marketing Coordinator might involve some copy-writing for an e-shot, obtaining quotes from print partners, researching new marketing ideas for the subsequent year, choosing the right image from the image library for a social media post, designing an online strapline advert, updating the company website, and creating a guestlist for a launch event. 

The Marketing team work closely alongside the Development team to ensure a joined up approach between corporate sales and marketing, and with the Box Office and Operations teams to continue the development of strategies, and to create weekly and annual analytics to be used across departments. 

Skills and knowledge required to fulfil key responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of operating an analytics system (specifically Zoho Analytics)
  • Excellent knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience of creating content for channels including web and email
  • Ability to follow in-house style for general copy-writing
  • Experience of using GoogleAds, Hootsuite, Contact Management systems, etc
  • Knowledge of building front and back end of websites such as WordPress
  • Strong understanding of SEO practices
  • Excellent communication, administration and ICT skills
  • Some knowledge and understanding of live events management
  • Tenacity and common sense
  • Persuasiveness and determination
  • Strong organisational abilities, shows initiative – a self-starter
  • Be available for the full duration of Brighton Fringe throughout May each year, being prepared for some late nights or weekend work over this time.

As an important member of the team, this entry-level role will be assisting with the delivery of all marketing aspects, including digital marketing, visual design for print and digital, mobile app administration, social media, email marketing, PR and analysis of marketing and communications campaigns.

A day in the life of the Marketing Assistant might involve some copy-writing or proof-reading for an e-shot, using the analytics program to create a visual presentation of sourced statistics, responding to queries sent through social media channels, choosing the right image from the image library for a social media post, sending out a press release, editing a short promo video for TikTok, and hanging up bunting for a launch event. 

The Marketing team work closely alongside all the other departments, in the same office, to create England’s largest arts festival every year. The role will be varied, and can get intensely busy in our peak times but it is ultimately very rewarding to be part of the team creating such an iconic and loved event. 


Skills and knowledge required to fulfil key responsibilities:

  • Experience of using the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Some experience of creating content for channels including web and email 
  • Ability to follow in-house style for general copy-writing 
  • Some knowledge of using systems such as GoogleAds, Hootsuite, Adwords etc
  • An understanding of SEO and optimisation practices
  • Excellent communication, administration and ICT skills
  • Some knowledge and understanding of live events management
  • Tenacity and common sense 
  • Motivated and shows initiative 
  • Ability to work accurately and to meet deadlines
  • Be available for the full duration of Brighton Fringe throughout May each year, being prepared for some late nights or weekend work over this time.
