A stellar jazz sextet performs a musical tribute to the jazz sound of South Africa and pianist Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollar Brand). Experience a joyous celebration of this unique jazz style and musical voice with performances of his classic standards, plus interpretations and new arrangements. The band is fronted by Mark Bassey (trombone) and Alex Bondonno (saxophone) and Jack Kendon (trumpet) who will lead the audience through a story of magical music: Cape Town, apartheid, struggles and eventual musical successes.
This all-star band re-ignites the magic of one of jazz’s greatest and most unique musicians. Hardened jazz fan or not, this evening will entertain and delight.
