This performance is part of a trilogy centering on past, present and future.
'Tell Me Why' - the first part of the trilogy - was showcased at Brighton Fringe 2022 using history and milestones significant to the growth and presence of LGBTQI+ communities locally and worldwide, emphasising the ongoing need for acceptance, inclusion, and equity. Drawing on the success and impact 'Tell Me Why' brought, we identified how to improve our reach and relevance by incorporating the values and commitment to inclusion and cultural diversity demonstrated at The Brighton Youth Centre with our equity of access.
Part 2 of the trilogy's theme will be Circus in Suburbia, set in the here and now using lived experiences focusing on raising awareness of the problems still faced, acknowledging progress, enriching our present and shaping our future, our young adults striving to live authentically with conviction, resilience, openly without compromise or fear. Maintaining our relevance means evolving and incorporating the experiences, concerns, and insights of young adults to shape the collective by influencing, creating art, learning career-based skills and confidently developing their own interests and skills.
Performers, cast, volunteers and allies work together to create a visual and musical contemporary performance which is bold, socially engaging, entertaining, provocative and informative.
