FOOD CULTURE & ORAL HISTORY WORKSHOP
Michael McMillan's I Miss My Mum's Cookin' installation forms the backdrop to this unique experiential workshop which will use the handling, smelling and tasting different ingredients, spices, herbs, seasonings, snacks and drinks to stimulate discussion about Caribbean and other migrant food cultures. Workshop participants will be invited to share stories about the food they grew up with and what they cook now, and how this informs their own food cultures and identities.
Michael McMillan is a British born writer, playwright, artist/curator and scholar of Vincentian migrant heritage. His much-praised installation The Front Room is permanently at the Museum of the Home (formerly the Geffrye Museum).
