Fringe Academy: An Introduction to Forum Theatre

Speak Up! Act Out! in collaboration with Brighton Fringe Academy, are excited to announce an Introduction to Forum Theatre workshop, on May 27th.

Forum Theatre is a powerful method which is used in a variety of settings and environments, with its main aim being to engage in conversations about positive social changes. It is a powerful, and dynamic way to initiate open conversation about issues and matters affecting our communities. Using games, storytelling, physical expression, and improvisation, participants will explore stories and themes, which impact their lives, in a warm, fun and well facilitated space. And what is ideal, is that you don't need to have previous experience of drama or theatre, to be involved. It was designed for communities and for non-actors!

The workshop is facilitated by Angela El-Zeind; a Brighton-based applied arts facilitator, performing arts lecturer, theatre maker, and artistic director of Speak Up! Act Out! CIC. Her practice involves working in education, as well as with community groups, youth theatre companies, theatre makers, charities, and with individuals as a mentor and coach.

With each of these collaborations Angela ensures that all participants feel comfortable to explore and express their thoughts and ideas creatively and safely, and that their stories are told as authentically as possible. She takes pride in my ability to create trusting environments where it is possible to explore challenging material and issues, with a mutually respectful and sensitive approach, whilst always ensuring that the wellbeing of those involved.
